If you are a professional jeweler or you just like making jewelry, then 3D printing would be perfect for you. Instead of spending long hours carving on wax to find out that your model did not turn out the way you wanted it to be, you can simply print it out using a 3D printer and create a mold out of the printed object and make thousands of copies using the lost wax process. Following these simple steps:
- You find a design you like
- Convert it into a 3D image using this Image to STL. Converter
- Upload it to the 3D printer and print it
- Make a mold (using liquid silicone and a proxy) from your model
- Pour wax into your mold to get a wax replica
- Place the wax replica inside a flask and pour an investment powder and let it dry
- Put the flask inside a kiln to burn the wax out
- Now your flask is ready for silver or any other metal to be poured in it
- After you pour the metal into the flask, wait until it cools down, then take your piece out and polish it
